LifeBots project

Our objective

From the engineering point of view, the goal of the LifeBots project is to design, build and validate an assistive ecosystem formed by a person living in a smart home with a social robot as her main interface to a gentler habitat. The expected goal of our final demonstrations will be to show how a robot can proactively assist a person in a variety of specific service tasks through internalizing and adaptation of skills.

Our confidence on the achievement of such goal is our trust in the hypothesis that the use of lifelong technologies, when applied to the different components of the software infrastructure, will permit the adaptation and improvement of the system in the long-term. Therefore, from the scientific point of view, the goal of the project is to demonstrate that it is possible for a robot to assist a person inside a smart home in a variety of specific service tasks while gaining new experiences and capabilities from a lifelong perspective, in such a way that the human-robot interaction improves with time.
